Why we focus on water heater leaks
Most plumbing websites try to cover everything, from drains to remodels. TankRight covers one problem in one area: water heater leak repair in La Mirada and the cities around it. That focus shapes everything on this site. Each service page explains a specific kind of leak, such as a dripping relief valve, a weeping drain valve, a failed connector or a tank that has rusted through, and what usually fixes it.
A leaking water heater is stressful because you rarely know how serious it is. A small drip can be a cheap part. A puddle at the base can be the first sign of a tank failure. We wrote these pages so you can make sense of what you see, shut the heater down safely and describe the problem clearly when you call.
How TankRight works
TankRight is a referral service. We do not employ plumbers, and we do not perform repairs ourselves. When you call (562) 539-0506, your call is connected to an independent local plumbing provider who serves your area. That provider is the one who visits your home, diagnoses the leak, quotes the work and carries it out.
- You call. Tell us where you are and what you are seeing: where the water is, what kind of heater you have and whether it is shut off.
- We connect you. Your call is routed to an independent provider who works in your area.
- The provider takes it from there. They confirm timing, explain pricing and do the work directly with you.
Calling is free. Pricing, scheduling, warranties and licensing are the responsibility of the provider who performs the work, so we encourage you to ask them about each of these before any work begins. A good provider will be happy to explain their license, their estimate and what is included.
What we will and will not say
We think you deserve straight information, especially during an emergency. So this site does not publish made-up reviews, invented statistics, guaranteed arrival times or prices that a provider has not quoted you. When we mention local facts, such as the age of homes in La Mirada or the hardness of water in Cerritos, they come from public sources.
We also do not claim round-the-clock service. Availability depends on the independent provider you are connected with, and you can ask about it on the call. If you ever smell gas, the right call is not to us: leave the home and contact SoCalGas or 911 from outside.
Where we take calls from
TankRight takes calls from across La Mirada, including the Biola University area, Gardenhill and Neff Park, and from nearby cities such as Whittier, Norwalk, Cerritos and Fullerton. If you live close to these areas and are not sure whether you are covered, call and ask.
If something goes wrong with a repair
Because the work is done by an independent provider, questions about a repair, an invoice or a warranty should go to that provider first. Keep their business name, estimate and receipt together with your other home records. If you are unhappy with how a job was handled, the Contractors State License Board is the state agency that licenses contractors in California, and it can explain your options.
Before you call: three quick steps
- Shut off the cold-water valve on the pipe above the heater. If it will not turn, close the main water shut-off for the house.
- Turn off the energy. Set the gas control to off or pilot, or switch off the breaker for an electric heater.
- Keep clear and protect belongings. Leaking water can be scalding. Move items away and keep children and pets back.
Those three steps stop most leaks from getting worse. For more detail, our emergency water heater repair guide walks through each step, and the leak repair cost guide explains what affects the price of a repair or replacement.
